Day six: our last day in Salento

We decided to go back to the Baia dei Turchi, but before we tried the famous pasticciotti, a type of filled pastry, traditionally filled with either ricotta cheese or egg custard. In some Italian-American communities they are called pusties. The best pasticceria in town is called Dentoni, with its beautiful terrace facing Torre dell’Orso beach front.

For our last dinner we decided to stay in town and go eat at the Mercato del Pesce, Luca wasn’t feeling great so at the end we did a take out dinner, and it was really tasty. Mercato del pesce combines a fish/seafood shop with a casual restaurant. The fish and seafood could not be any fresher, the taste is authentic and the preparation is simple.  I had tagliolini with ricci di Mare…

Time to drive north. Salento il really an amazing gem of Italy: people, food, places, history, culture, flavors and perfumes are going to be with me for a long time. Sees you soon Puglia.
