Angkor: Day #2

@ 7.30 we are ready for our second day in steamy Siem Reap. After a fried egg, orange juice, nescafe (sorry…) and some toasts, we jump on the Tuk Tuk and we drive for 37 km (!!) to see Banteay Srai one of the most detailed and well preserved Temple of the area. Our second day is called “the big tour“: Banteay Srai, and Banteay Samre, Ta Som, East Mebom, Neak Pen and Preah Khan.

Banteay Samre
In this Temple we met an Indian guy who pretty much told us that he was not very impressed with the all area since in India they have better temples and definitely better preserved ones (Ramaa, Ashok?)
But wasn’t exactly this the charm of Angkor? The ruines and Mother Nature claiming back the space after the decline of the Khmer civilization??
Ta Som
Preah Khan
which is actually a Royal Palace rather than a temple. It was fun to get lost in the tunnels, thinking of what was going on during a regular day at the King’s court.
in this one, Daniele is clearly yelling at the girl to get out of his picture, already! …
… with no luck, apparently.
Christmas eve dinner in Siem Reap… I really missed the italian version …!
Daniele had a Pizza…and that was probably the best meal served at the table… here is some not-so-good looking seafood BBQ.
a frozen Margarita before calling it a night…
…it wasn’t that great, either.
Walking back to get a tuk tuk, we found the main restaurant alley, with some interesting places to try the next day.
