We landed Thursday night (12/22), the humidity was high (like I love …) and our driver Run picked as up in a Tuk Tuk. I will not even start telling how much we laughed when Daniele told Harvey: “Well, Jump in!”
At the end the drive to Golden Mango was pretty smooth, even though Daniele had to hold our suitcase with one hand while Run was trying to keep the Tuk Tuk as stable as possible on Cambodian roads…
On Friday Dec 23th we drove around the ruines (always with our driver Run) following what they call the small tour: Angkor Wat, Ta Prohm, Ta Keo and Angkor Thom.
Here we are at the first and biggest of them all Angkor Wat or should I say Angkor WHAT????
Daniele took very seriously his role of the one and only custodian of the guidebook (bought used in a bookstore in Hanoi), and decided to read out loud every description about Angkor.
Yes, everyone went up there… but me. I couldn’t because apparently my shoulders are too sexy for the personnel checking on the dress code…
it is very hard to resist, even with my scarf on them!
Getting out of Angkor Wat from the East Gate
Ta Prohm
Here we are in Ta Prohm, very famous temple even because some scene from the masterpiece “Tomb Raider” where shot here. (this information made the visit so worth it….bah!) anyway, Ta Prohm is very famous mostly for some trees…can you spot them in my picture??
Entering Ankor Thom
(above the) Elephant Terrace (but where are the elephants? Answer: tomorrow), then Phimeanakas and Baphuon
Bayon (incredible..!)
Going out for dinner in Siem Reap… on the Tuk Tuk with Run, of course
