Driving just a little more you can arrive to the ancient city of Priene, famous for its dramatic setting on flat table land overlooking the broad expanse of the Meander River flood plain with the steep rock of Mount Mykale at its back. It is spectacular.
Here we are in Didyma. The gigantic Temple of Apollo at Didyma (Didim in Turkish) was among the most famous oracles in the ancient world, equal in importance to the oracular temple at Delphi in Greece. The huge white-marble temple is simply amazing, with a forest of 120 giant columns at the front porch. At the back of the porch, temple priests met petitioners in a huge portal to accept questions for the oracle, and to deliver oracular poems.
Everyday after the 2 hours Turkish breakfast we start the day at the salty water pool where Luca is learning how tp swim with floatersbut we always go back to “our” cats for an afternoon napThe afternoon/night are all for the beach, we arrive around 4:30 and stay for the sunset dip around 9pm
We just landed in Bodrum Airpot, rented our car and we are on our way to Lalekent. Our host and friend suggested to use the highway, but , of course, we picked the road thru the mountains, and it was worthed! Here we are, first Turkish Sunset. Tomorrow more pics of our splendid houseGoodmorning Turkey, here is the view from our bedroom. This village was originally built by the military in the 1980s, now it is a residential, but not posh vacation site……but posh enough to have a little private beach….Best thing about Lalekent? It is full of Cats, me and Luca are in heaven! We actually have between 5-7 in our backyard, and 2 are actually our hosts. The Garden around the house have herbs, fruits, tomatoes, smells like a dream and makes us hungry all the time!
