On my 4th day I have my final bucket list that includes a stroll to Lapad, a large peninsula (not an island) situated just outside of Dubrovnik’s Old Town, on its Western side (check its location on the map). The distance to Old Town is about 4 km (2.5 miles). We took a bus to get there and walked around looking for a nice beach. On out way back to Old Town we did some cultural visit to the MOMAD Museum of Modern Art Dubrovnik, and the Etnographic museum right next to our accommodation.
Mostly I wanted to Kayak and watch the sunset, and we did it without any tour, just 1hr around 6pm. It was perfect!
Last, let’s feed the soul and the belly, we had a beer at the Buža Bar. Buža Bar is reputed to be one of the most beautiful bars in Dubrovnik due to its position on the cliffs right above the sea, giving a pretty amazing panorama across the Adriatic. It is also known as the “hole-in-the-wall” and it is the ‘essence’ of Dubrovnik, where they say, visitors become locals.
In the old Dubrovnik dialect, buža means ‘hole’, and to get to this unique café bar, you have to go through the hole-in-the-wall that leads to a swimming and relaxing spot that is a daily stop for many of the people who live within Dubrovnik’s impenetrable, protective City Walls.
We finished the night at Carmen Trattoria that we had to reserve 3 days in advance. And it was worth it!
