Soccer or Badminton?

I just discovered that badminton is very popular here in Hanoi.
Walking around the city, especially in the afternoon when kids get out of school, you’ll find real tournaments, not just small improvised games.

Yesterday I walked with Roselyn to this very big park the Lenin Park, south east from the Center and Hoan Kiem Lake. The main entrance is very similar to the University of Rome entrance from “Piazzale Aldo Moro“. But the, as soon as you enter you find yourself in a weird world something between the Coney Island Amusement Park (but soooo much older) and a tropical botanic garden.

There is the vietnamese version of Donald Duck, and Snoopy, and an old roller coasters not in use (hopefully..!), a big lake with islands, an open air gym (with guys showing off…guys….!), and a lot of badminton playgrounds.

Here is a curiosity, apparently for high school kids this is how to play:

On Monday, right in front of St Joseph this was the scene I saw. (Move that freaking car…!)

I guess they love soccer too!

But let’s go back to the Old Quarter again. Tonight we decided to try “Little Hanoi“, a small traditional restaurant that Daniele’s colleague, Harvey, is talking about since we got here.
Well…it was so worth it! 4 people dinner = 20 dollars and delicious too! Best grilled eggplants ever!
This gives you a sense of traffic in a street around the Old Quarter (Pho Co).
